Blogger Introduction

My name is Helen, and my blog is The Hels Project. It started out as a lifestyle blog, but I now write about parenting and anything else I feel like!
Why I chose to write about South London…
I’ve spent the last 10 years living in London, in quite a few different areas, but I’ve always loved being South of the river, and just over two years ago, my partner and I bought our first home in South London.
5 things to see and do in South London
The Horniman Museum
The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill is great for days out – whether you have kids or not. Huge gardens, plenty of exhibitions and gorgeous views over London.
Greenwich Park
Probably one of my favourite spots in all of London, amazing views if you fancy climbing to the top of the park, the Maritime Museum, and the university campus sits just across from the park which is worth a visit. The borough of Greenwich is lovely to explore.
Borough Market
Borough Market by London Bridge is definitely worth a trip. Fresh food, amazing drinks, there is so much choice.
Open Spaces
There are so many incredible parks in south London, I love Brockwell Park (also home to Brockwell Lido if you fancy a swim) and Richmond Park is beautiful (though obviously much further south).
Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens – also further south – but still London, Kew Gardens is definitely worth a visit.
Helen’s Recommendation for Food & Drink in South London
Pop Brixton, and Brixton Market, both of which are a couple of minutes walk from Brixton tube and the overground is great for both eating and drinking. Both have outdoor and indoor areas, and you’ll have the choice of food from all around the world, as well as plenty of spots for drinking, whether you’re in the mood for local beer or fancy cocktails.
