Blogger Introduction
My name is Alicia and I’m a beauty, lifestyle and fashion blogger primarily over at www.aestheticobsessed.co.uk but I do also write posts regarding travel and love. I grew up in a small town just outside Portsmouth, but spend a majority of the year living in London studying at university.
Why I chose to write about Portsmouth…
I have chosen to write about Portsmouth as it’s the major city by where I grew up and I spent many joyful days and evening spent exploring. Whenever I come back from university in the summer I’m always excited to re-explore and discover what new additions have been while I’ve been away. While it’s not a big or hectic as other seaside cities/towns in the UK (for example Brighton or Blackpool) it does have a sort of charm to it.
5 things to see and do in Portsmouth
Go for a picnic
Going for a picnic down the Southsea Bandstand on a Sunday (running every Sunday during the summer)
Blue Reef Aquarium
Spend the afternoon surrounded by fish and other aquatic animals at the Blue Reef Aquarium
Visit the Arcade
Get rid of any loose change in the arcade machines at either South Parade Pier or Clarence Pier
Go on a moonlight walk
Follow the moonlight walk path from Clarence Pier to Gunwharf Quays
Boat Tour
Take a boat tour around the harbour (departs from Gunwharf Quays)
Alicia’s Recommendation for Food & Drink in Portsmouth
Drinks
Bar 38 // great for chilled cocktails after a day of shopping at Gunwharf Quays, they also serve food (include 2 for 1 pizza’s during happy hour)
Little Johnny Russell’s // situated on Albert Road within seconds of the Kings Theatre, perfect for a drink or two before a show. Or go along and catch some live music, while in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Gin and Olive // for those gin lovers, this is a specialist gin bar located also on Albert Road either sample the selection of gin they have on offer or one of the several gin based cocktails.
Food
Mozzarella Joes // located on the seafront next to Southsea rowing club and the hovercraft, they have a traditional seaside menu as well as a specialist pizza menu.
Sakura // for all the sushi lovers, this place offers beautifully produced sushi and is located on Albert Road…just a heads up that you will need to get a reservation this place tends to get busy.
Mick’s Monster Burgers (just outside Portsmouth on Portsdown Hill) // if you love burgers you’ll love this place, not only is it home to the monster burger… or an egg, cheese and mushroom roll if you don’t eat meat, but you get a view of the whole of Portsmouth while you enjoy it.
